Detoxing simply means eliminating your body of toxins.
What are toxins?
Put simply, toxins are produced by bacteria, worms and food and water-borne parasites that enjoy a high sugar “junk” food diet. Toxins are poisonous substances produced by living organisms and detoxing is the process of eliminating them.
Parasites happen to be the most successful life forms on the planet and just about every body on the planet has them. These unwelcome invaders feed on the nutrients in your food and load you up with their secretions and excretions.
The following is some, but not all, of the symptoms of parasites – abdominal pain, bad breath, bowel issues, fluid retention, food sensitivities, joint/muscle pain, allergies, bloating, fatigue, unexplained fevers, rashes, flatulence and stomach cramps – these are just some of the common signs caused by various parasites.
Detoxing is not a simple and certainly not a quick fix solution. For a detox program to be effective long-term, it means eliminating parasites as well as the eggs and larvae, replenishing your system with good bacteria and maintaining a good, nutrient and mineral rich diet so parasites don’t enjoy the “feeding” ground again.
Detoxing the body is a great way to lose unwanted weight too, and to rejuvenate your glandular activity, revitalize your blood and help to restore the acid-alkaline balance in your body.
These days, with the chemicalization of our food and soil, together with the increased use of pharmaceutical drugs, our bodies have become overloaded with chemical toxins. Add to that the huge number of chemicals in personal products (shampoo, conditioners, deodorants, face creams, make-up) and the human body has to deal with an extraordinary toxic overload that is was never designed for.
Before undertaking any detox regime is it important to be well hydrated. Ensure you are drinking atleast 2 litres of filtered water a day for a month before starting your regime. That’s because if you are not hydrated, rather than being eliminated, toxins will find other areas of the body to re-locate. Two locations toxins will favour are the kidneys and the brain. Headaches when detoxing are a sign that the toxins have relocated to the brain.
The 5 main food groups to eliminate during a detox regime are sugar, grains, dairy, caffeine and meat.
- Sugar “feeds” parasites and worms so by starving them helps to eliminate them and for the eggs and larvae to “die” off.
- Grains– especially wheat, helps to take the load off the digestive system.
- Caffeine – eliminating coffee and black/green tea because you are supporting your kidneys and liver to detoxify, giving these organs a break and chance to recover from constantly processing caffeine. Substituting with herbal teas will not only support these organs but also nourish them.
- Meat – substituting red meat as it is acidic (parasites thrive in an acidic body) plus meat requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remains in the intestines and becomes putrefied and creates more toxic build up.
HERBAL TEAS THAT CAN HELP WITH YOUR DETOX REGIME
- DETOX tea – with the combination of Dandelion leaf and Milk Thistle (2 effective liver herbs) with Ginger root and Nettle, this tea is ideal to drink during a Detox.
- WEIGHT tea – the herb Cleavers helps to cleanse the lymphatic system.
- SKIN tea – the blood cleansing herbs, including Burdock, help to support the kidneys and digestion.
These herbal tea blends are ideal substitutes for caffeine during a detox.
